Oh, My Word! v2.0 Update in Development

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

As you’ll recall we mentioned a little while back that things are hotting up in The Oven with a fantastic analogy to John Travolta’s infamous Grease performance. Well, don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten Oh, My Word! We’re bashing away at a really, really big update which will bring the app up to version 2.0.

It will include two new game modes and an easier version of the classic game, as well as global leaderboards and something really, really exciting that I can’t legally say about just yet (but trust me, it is awesome)!

Oh, My Word! version 2.0 on its way

Oh, My Word! version 2.0 on its way

From our design specification (which is subject to change):

Classic
As per the v1.1 for Normal difficulty, however introduces Easy difficulty where each round and subsequent secret word within it a randomly selected higher and lower bounding word are present.

Survival
In this mode their exists a clock which starts at 120 seconds and counts down, when it reaches zero the game is over and the score from that round is the number of correct secret words guessed.

- For each correct word guessed the player receives a 2 seconds bonus.

- For each incorrect word (one which does not exist or is higher or lower than the pre-existing bounding words) the player is penalised 10 seconds.

- When the player correctly guesses a secret word they receive a 30 second bonus.

- If the player leaves and returns to the game (to take a call for example) then they will receive a 15 second penalty. This is to limit cheating.

When the time is up the secret word is revealed and the player’s top score is updated, if necessary, and added to the global leaderboard.

Time Attack
This is as per normal difficultly Classic mode, however, instead the number of guesses a player can take is unlimited. The player, however, is required to guess five secret words against the clock. The quicker the time the better.

If the player leaves and returns to the game (to take a call for example) then they will receive a 15 second penalty. This is to limit cheating.

When the player has guessed all five words the round is over and the player’s top time is updated, if necessary, and added to the global leaderboard.

Oh, My Word! Powers Up to v1.1

If you’re anything like me, someone of considerable taste, you like to have the very best and latest of everything; the latest fashions from the catwalks of Milan or perhaps the newest model Porsche. However, if you are truly like me you won’t be able to afford any of this and will instead subsist on competitively priced iPhone games.

Well, here at Mobile Pie we like to give you the best of both world, which is why we’re offering you the v1.1 update for both Oh, My Word! and Oh, My Word! Free for absolutely nothing. That’s right: Nada, zilch, sweet FA. So, you can experience all of the new features, including a bigger word list and swanky SFX, without any cost to yourself.

If you’re still not convinced then check out the below video to see what you’re missing:
